SMORES!!

When I was younger Smores were one of my favorite treats. The combination of crunchy and creamy and messy was pure delight for me. As summer draws to a close, what better way to celebrate the end of warm summer days than by experiencing that taste of a childhood summer treat? Although, smores have moved way beyond a marshmallow and chocolate between two graham crackers. They’ve even become, dare I say, sophisticated in some respects.

I’ve collected some of my favorite recipes that offer the perfect combination that I remember from years past.

St. Patrick’s Day has become one of those holidays that centers around the bar, like Mardi Gras, despite any other reasons for its appearance on the calender. But I prefer to examine other features of Irish heritage. The following recipe is pretty old, as several family members have made it in the past in both muffin and loaf form. This time it’s muffins, more specifically Irish Raisin Muffins.

I’ve had this recipe for so long I don’t even remember where it comes from, and I’ve just now been able to make it. I plan on including it in the next cookbook. Not only is this good for a breakfast or brunch, but it also makes a great dinner.

Even though I said I’d post pictures a while ago, at least I’m putting them up now. And with the planning begun on the third cookbook (Holiday themed, by the way), I figured I should follow through with the second.
All of the recipes included are of a dessert nature and I ordered them by type. They range from chocolate, candy, baked, to cakes/pies. I used Blurb again for the printing.
